Problem statement:
We will be provided with one meter head of one liter water that will be used to propel a model car in a linear direction.
Course Description:The competition surface will be the available flooring at the contest venue. This surface may be indoor/outdoor carpeting, industrial/commercial carpeting or hard flooring. Contestants must be prepared to compete on any of the above surfaces, as the contest venue’s flooring will not be specified prior to the competition.
Rules
The following are the rules for the Student design contest 2011 local round.
The local rounds are now divided into two parts.
First round
First round shall be, most likely, on 29th December 2010.In this round all teams shall bring their fabricated designs and shall present them before the jury and the technical team.
Technical Team:
The technical teams should consist of 4 members who are not only the winners of the last year local round of SDC but ,in addition to that ,they also won SLS ”Student leadership seminar at ” (All Pak level) and represented Pakistan in SPDC held in INDIA through teleconferencing.
The technical team will judge your fabricated design in the light of the design statement and FAQ’s and after their judgment you will be allowed to run your car in the presence of jury who will adjudicate your performance and award you credit for the covered straight line distance consequently. We will make sure that your design must be kept secret from the other teams so other teams couldn’t copy your design in the next round if you are able to qualify for the next round.(Don’t show or discuss your design with the other teams its for your on betterment)Bring your device and vehicle in opaque bags on the contest day so no one would see the mechanisms used to drive model car. Other teams will only be allowed to see your design from a farther distance to just have an idea that if your car has travelled or not in order to ensure transparency of the competition.
Important note: (Final decisive round)
On the basis of jury’s decision top three teams of first round will move to the next final decisive round.
This decisive round will be held one week before the SLS “Student leadership seminar” most probably in February 2011 and the winner of this round will be allowed to participate in SLS to represent UET Lahore to win this honor back to our university since we are SDC holder for the prior year 2010.
Certificates:
Participation and distinction certificates shall be awarded to participants of the first round.At the end I wish you all the very best. Work hard and prove yourself among the rest.
